Good Feeling #4 – Story times with the passionate storytellers of TMYS

TMYS had three recent back-to-back releases

TMYS is reaching out
to more storytellers
today.

Out there; yes, right out there, exists a community of storytellers. Their minds keep wandering. I won’t say this wandering only happens around ideas. These minds wander around certain thoughts, which take the shape of passionate stories.

Storytellers are greedy, hungry and thirsty by birth. This greed, hunger and thirst is for wealth; don’t misunderstand this wealth to be of materialistic value. This value is all about the earthen pot of stories, which is wealthier than all other wealth in this world. Many might not know that the Sippys; producers of the Indian epic Sholay had rented a bungalow for their resident writers Salim-Javed (Javed Akhtar and Salim Khan) to gift them a writers-friendly environment. So tough to believe, isn’t it? Two of the finest writers of Indian cinema had an entire bungalow to spend time writing stories. In short, storytellers are always in need of an environment to write.

Ruskin Bond; one of the finest Indian storytellers writes from his home located in Landour Cantt, Mussoorie, Dehradun. Pick up any of his stories; you will literally sense the fragrance of the place, which is his writing heaven. And then, there are storytellers like us, who are always eager to write their own stories and share them with the world. So, where do we go? If I say, we go nowhere and our stories remain in our diaries, notepads and laptops; will you believe me? Perhaps not! That is when, a special initiative comes to us, which prides itself with the name – TELL ME YOUR STORY.

For others, Tell Me Your Story is just an online portal to submit stories and see them getting published for free; also available to be read for free. But in the year 2016, the same portal took the shape of a gateway for me and many better storytellers than me to help us build a healthy reserve of stories. I too wrote the first ever story, which saw an online release. Friends read it and so did my colleagues. Members of my family read the story too. Given below is the link of that one story, which marked my association with Tell Me Your Story and my debut as a storyteller.

Tiny Train to Nowhere was released on December 15, 2016. Even in 2020, people read it and don’t get tired of praising it. I too feel, this was one story of mine, which still stands being too special and also close to heart. In short, it is relevant even today. I too am planning to write a prequel and a sequel to it. This will mark the completion of a trilogy.

Today Tell Me Your Story is not just an online portal to submit stories. Theirs is also a team, which has started releasing e-books, comprising our stories. If you’ve a Kindle or the Kindle App and own a subscription with Amazon’s e-books, do make it a point to download the books and start reading. Tell Me Your Story is a brainchild of journalist Ms. Koral Dasgupta and her equally talented team of story hunters, story editors, story curators and story listeners.

Therefore, at such times when you are locked inside your homes and trying to figure out what to do; follow Tell Me Your Story on social media and get to know, what are they up to next. If you ask me, why do I speak so passionately about Tell Me Your Story (or TMYS as they are known to be), I will say it is like my second home. Whenever I have a story, I got to TMYS and they help my story breathe through their own process of editing, polishing and releasing.

TMYS is reaching out to more storytellers today. Since they are themselves driven by passion, I am sure, they will continue to bring more stories to continue reading on and on.

TMYS is now shaping new leaders too
